Tim Graafsma joins the management of Waarborg Vastgoed
Looking ahead, ensuring continuity and continuing to learn, that is what we like to do at Waarborg. Because we believe – no, we know for sure – Change is good! A fresh perspective makes the impossible possible and together we create the difference. In that light, we welcome Tim Graafsma with great enthusiasm this month as a new board member and shareholder at Waarborg Vastgoed.
Tim has been working at Waarborg since 2015 as Real Estate Manager and Portfolio Manager. In his new role as Director of Real Estate, he will focus on optimising the return on our portfolio, in line with the past few years. From the purchase and sale of properties to residential rental: he continues his adventure at Waarborg with passion, in close collaboration with board members René Agema (General Manager) and Bart Jager (Financial Director).
Real estate in the heart
Tim's entry into the board is one he is personally proud of and one that feels like the right step at the right time, both professionally and personally:
“I used to go and stay with my grandfather every holiday. An inspiring man: after a successful career at Gasunie, he decided to change course and supervise bouwprojecten as an engineer. Nursing homes, hospitals, hotels: he visited all kinds of construction sites and I was allowed to go with him during the holidays. He told me about foundations, architecture and how you build, layer by layer. I always thought that was really great. My interest was aroused and remained, as it turns out all these years later. My grandfather's combination from back then – entrepreneurship, real estate and development – is coming back to me at the moment. And that feels good, familiar. This work gives me energy!”
A new path for Peter Liewes
While we welcome Tim this month in his new role within Waarborg, Peter Liewes is saying goodbye. Early September he retired as a shareholder and board member of Waarborg. After 12 years he was ready for a new, personal path: he is starting at the Municipality of Groningen as a project developer of Meerstad.
Peter looks back on an exciting period. “Both professionally and personally, a lot happens in 12 years. A merger, crises, children, friendships: as a team you experience a lot. A sense of pride prevails when I look back, you did it together.” We are grateful to Peter for his years of dedication and ideas to help Waarborg grow to where we are today. Cheers to the future, on to a new adventure!
